Alpha closure causes trouble for drivers

Thousands of policyholders have been left uninsured due to Danish insurer Alpha Insurance being declared bankrupt on the 8th May 2018. Minicab and taxi drivers were mostly affected and are now having to re-insure their vehicles. Policyholders have received a text stating that their policy is “cancelled with immediate effect” from their providers.
A spokesperson from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has stated, “The Danish FSA has announced that Alpha has been declared bankrupt. UK policyholders need to find alternative cover as soon as possible…Existing Alpha insurance policyholders should immediately contact their insurance broker”
